Visit with Grandparents!

Oh Boy! It's that time of year again...
This past Sunday, our family went to see our grandparents on the other side of the state. Since my mom and dad grew up in the same town, we can basically visit our entire family all at the same time. Rather convenient... Anywho, it takes about an hour and forty-five minutes to drive to their houses, so on the way over, Holly and i played the alphabet game. You basically look for signs out the window and look for letters in the order of the alphabet. the first person to get to Z wins! Only, we put a little different spin on it: instead of just seeing the letter, you had to take a picture of it and be able to see it in the picture, which was a little unfair, since Holly's camera is about 1,000 times better than mine. Funny, I still one, but I digress.

We went to my dads parents first and visited with them for a few hours. My uncle (Dads brother) and aunt were there at the same time. the live on the same road as my grandparents. My uncle owns a sugaring business. And for those flat landers, that means we make maple maple syrup. Real maple syrup. Real NH maple syrup! And we don't tap telephone polls, they do that on the other side of the Connecticut river... I will digress on that subject, too. My uncle is paying me to make tubing for him, so have a little money!!

While we were there, Grampa, Holly and I went 4-wheeling out behind their house! It was awesome! I love 4-wheeling almost as much as biking!

After that, I walked around and took some pictures! ther are so many things to take pictures of up at my grand parents, you wouldn't believe it!

Here are some of them:

They live on a really steep dirt road.

Would hate to go down it with on breaks!

LUCY!!

Dustin's Sugar House!

The Dump-truck

One of the sap containers

You might be a Red Neck if ya'll live on a Dead End Class 6 Road...

The dome on top of the school

Holly heading back to the house

The bare. This is probably my favorite picture

The Chicken Coop

Lots of wood

The explosives I almost killed myself with

And where I found them

You don't realize how big the wrench really is until you look at the hammer next to it.

Tools!!!

AWESOME TRACTORS!!!

This thing is really fun to drive!

Barrel mover... How would you like to get picked up with that?

Coco!

Wall...

Or Secret Door???

Wall...

Or Secret Door???

Up to the hayloft!

Almost fell through the trapdoor!

Found a Bull Whip! Makes me feel a little like Indiana Jones, but only a little!

There is some really cool old farm equipment there, too!

Then we went to see my moms parents. They live about three minutes away from my other grandparents.
Ringa! His name is Ringa because when they got him, he ran around the tree he was tied to.  And since Ring around the Rosie is to long, Ringa was adopted.  I could not get a good picture of him to save my life.
FACE SHOT!!!

Finally! A good one...

Holly

Grama! Sorry your gift was two months late!

A picture of a picture of my cousins!

The piano!

A look through the key whole!

And that is the door I was at!

The Attic! My favorite place in the house!

That is a long way down!

Imagine my reaction: While I was exploring an old shed at my grand parents (Will post on that later today), I opened a box and found some long, tubular, stick-like pieces of cardboard. My first thought, as I picked one up, was "Cool! It looks like a stick of dynamite!" I then turned it over in my hand and read, on the back side of it: "DANGER! HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE!"

Early Spring

"Early spring, early spring,"

The morning frost has started to ring.

Warmth, and sunshine, and sweet gentle rain,

Will hearken once more to creation's refrain.

A quiet whisper the warm winds bring;

“Early spring, early spring.”

The season’s chill has begun to break.

Now begins the work with spade and rake.

Little shoots and sprouts of green,

Under Autumn’s leaves are seen.

Crocuses and Snowdrops sing,

"Early spring, early spring."

Across the land the color returns.

Across the land a cry is heard.

The sound of water rushing down

To its sweet reunion with the ground.

Out of the valley comes the river’s loud cry;

“Spring is nigh, spring is nigh!”

There is a flutter of wings as the do birds fly.

They teach their young fledglings to take to the sky.

A twitter, a cheap, a glorious song,

Emerges from the breast of this joyous throng.

The call is spread from sky to sky;

“Spring is nigh, spring is nigh!”

A gentle drip does slowly wake

The creatures that do hibernate.

Returns the sound of life’s rebirth

As droplet falls from leaf to earth.

Silently calls the new born fawn;

“Winter’s gone, winter’s gone.”

 Above in the air a call is heard,

Of goose and duck; of water bird.

It echoes down from their great height;

It echoes down both day and night.

In flight they call, though journey long;

“Winter’s gone, winter’s gone!”

The dew has risen from the ground.

The grass and fields make a joyful sound.

Each tiny form of liquid glass

Waters the growing plants and grass.

 A tinkling voice says from each crystal sphere;

“Spring is here! Spring is here!”

Across the land there comes a cry.

From meadow to mountain, from river to sky.

The cry of water, plant and tree;

The call of a sparrow, the hum of a bee.

For all of creation sings out with great cheer;

“Spring is here! Spring is here!”
