To play or not to play..................

One of the best football teams out there right now is the Denver Broncos. The reason for this is because of team work, practice and a good QB. Their Quarter Back is a young man by the name of Tim Tebow.

Tim is a Christian, Homeschooled grad who graduated from the University of Florida in 2010. After that, he was drafted by the Broncos.

Tim Tebow is an outspoken Christian and lives his life in a godly manner, whether he is on or off the field.  After a Touch-Down, he will point to God or kneel and pray giving thanks. Because of this, he has become a target by the media, the left, and people that just don't like Christians. But why? Other people point to heaven after hitting a home run, or scoring a touch-down, so why do they hate him?  Because he lives his life according to the Word of God.  In Major League Sports, you are supposed to be a crowd pleaser, but not a God pleaser. Tebow is a God pleaser.  And for that, God has blessed him and his team. The Broncos have won six straight games.

There has been some discussion on whether or not he should play football because of the bad influences.  I agree that the sports world is a pretty bad place, but could it be that Tim could be a good influence on the sports world?  We know from the Bible that Paul the Apostle changed the world! Also, look at what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount.

"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father  in heaven." ~ Matthew 5:13-16

I believe that as long as Tim Tebow does not get pulled away from God, that he can play football.

I don't know how you feel, but that is what I think.

What he chooses to do is up to him and God.

Sunday is the Patriots, Broncos game. Even thou I am from NH, I'll be rooting for Tebow!

Ten Words Of Advice

Here are some helpful words of advice: (No, not really!)

1.      Always laugh at danger. But be warned, it will laugh at you in the ER!

2.      Never mess around with matches or lighters. Flame-throwers work much better.

3.      Anyone who says “1+1=2” is wrong. Everyone knows that it is really 11.

4.      List of things not to lick: spark plugs, electrical outlets, 9 volt batteries, a frozen piece of metal, motor oil dip sticks, and someone else’s ice cream cone!

5.      There is no difference between gasoline and water. Although, it has never passed the trial by fire.

6.      Light-bulbs didn’t turn on when someone had an idea before Thomas Edison.

7.      Never dive into kiddy pools.

8.      Water Wings under a long sleeved shirt do not make your muscles look any bigger.

9.      “Look both ways before you cross the street” NOTE: it does not say anything about: the road, the drive, the avenue, the highway, the parkway, etc.

10.  4 KNO3 + C7H4O + 2 S —> 2 K2S + 4 CO2 + 3 CO + 2 H2O + 2 N2  + CH4 + 2 O2 → CO2 + 2 H2O 2 CH4 + 3 O2 → 2 CO + 4 H2O N2 + O2 → 2 NO N2 + 2 O2 → 2 NO2   = Spontaneous Combustion. (In other word: Gunpowder + Fire = Boom!)

Fun at Scouts

Every Tuesday night, our Boy Scout troop, troop 777, has a troop meeting. It is made up of an opening, when we do the Pledge of Allegiance, the scout oath and law, and an opening prayer. It is nice to have a troop made up a Christians. Then we go over the meeting plan and any announcements. Paul, our SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) is the highest youth leader in the troop. (Both in height and power)

Then we do a skill time where we help the TFC scouts (Target First Class, First Class is the half way rank in scouts. The ranks are Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and then Life, which is what I am.   Last is Eagle) we teach basic skills like lashings, map and compass, first aid, knife safety, etc.

Then we break into Troop Time where talk about upcoming events, reflections (talking about past events. The reflection is probably the most important part of an event, because it helps us understand what went well what didn't, how we should do things next time, ect.), and anything that needs to be talked about with the whole troop.

Then we go into patrol time. That's when the two patrols in the troop, the Nighthawks and Recon Patrol, split and talk about things that they need to talk about as a patrol. The patrol time is led by the patrol leader.

Then we do a game. We generally play capture the flag, man hunt or fox and hounds. If the weather is bad outside, we play steel the bacon.

Then we close.

This past week, we tried something different. Paul, who is in charge of the meeting, and my friends Jeremy, Greg, Mason, Ryan and myself went outside before the meeting to hide. We made a plan to do a first aid scenario to teach the younger guys about the importance of knowing their skills and having the proper equipment with them.

It started with Mason going inside and telling the leaders, quietly, what we were going to do. (I forgot to tell you that the plan was a secret. In fact, we were trying to trick the guys and make them think that it was real.) After Mason went in, Ryan went running in and said that everyone needed to get there flash lights and get outside ASAP.

Meanwhile, Paul went and laid down on the other side of a fence on a ledge leading into a sand pit.

When everyone came out, Greg, Jeremy and I all started yelling for Paul.

We split up into groups and started looking for Paul. One of the scouts, that was the reason for this drill, ended up finding him.

We got down to Paul and found out that he had a broken leg and was in shock. Paul was very convincing in his acting. I was almost even sure that he had a broken leg for a few minutes. We treated Paul for the broken leg and made a stretcher out of about 12 jackets. We put them under Paul, and carried him up a ledge, in the dark while it was raining. It felt like an Army Field Medic. When we got to the top, one of the adult leaders puts his hand on Paul’s head and said “Lord, heal this boy” and of course, Paul got up.

We had a lot of fun doing the first aid drill. I can’t wait till we do it again.

Eagle Project Work Day!

Saturday I had my first eagle project work day! (If you don't know what it is, I am restoring a trail in my town) It was awesome! Praise the Lord that we great weather, a good turn out, and got more done than I thought we would in 3 work days! We were only going to clear brush and maybe put in some stepping stones. We ended up clearing brush, putting in stepping stone, rerouting part of the trail, and trimmed half the trail!
Here are some pictures from it. Sorry that the pictures are poor quality. I took them on my phoneless cell phone/camera/pocket organizer.

From left to right: Nick, Tyler, Mason, Mr. B.
This group trimmed the edge of the trail.

From left to right: My dad, Ryan, Paul, David and Greg.
These guys put in stepping stones and cleaned out a drain.

The other group rerouting the trail.

There is one group of men..................................................

........................That will always obey their orders, will enter the battle willingly, always win, never give up. I am talking about, The proud! The few! The plastic army men? Yep, the plastic army men.
One thing I have loved ever since I can remember is playing with plastic army guys. Now my troops have rallied in to a sort of collection. This past week, my dad, mom and I went up to my grandparent's camp.(I will post on the later) I had a lot of time to just sit and set up my army men. It brings out the kid in me, although I am still a kid. :)

WE MUST NEVER FORGET!

September 11, 2001. WE MUST NEVER FORGET THOSE HEROES!

At our church on Sunday after the message, we watched a short movie about 9/11 called "In My Seat".
I gave a different perspective on it.

Joke of the Week! Contest!!!!!!

It is way past Wednesday and time to have the results of the joke of the week contest!
In 10'th place we have none other than................................The Wonderful Thing About Feet!

A boy asked his dad if he could use the family car!
His dad replied "Try walking some where! Why do you think God gave you two feet if you aren't going to walk anywhere?"
"That's easy," the boy replied "one for the gas and one for the break!"

In 9'th places slot goes to The Congressman and the Farmer
A rancher was watching his herd out in the fields of Montana, when suddenly a black Sudan pulled up and a well dress man in a suit, tie, really nice sun glasses and custom made leather shoes stepped out .
The man said to the farmer, "If I can tell you how many cows you have in your herd, will you give me one of your calves?"
"Alright." the farmer replied after thinking about it for a moment, "Why not!"
So the man pulled out his Blackberry Smart phone and found his UTM coordinates on his GPS app. Then he got a satellite photo which was sent to a master computer in Berlin, Germany, which wrote a 126 page report, which got sent to his home office and to his laptop in the trunk of his car. He sent it to his calculator app and had it counted the cows in the photo. Then he printed it on his ink jet printer, also in his trunk. After that he told the rancher: "You have 2,451 cows in this field."
"Wow!" the rancher replied, "Have your pick."
So the man picked a scrawny looking cow and and stuffed it in his trunk. As he was about to leave, the rancher said to him, "If I can tell you what your job is, will you give me back my cow?"
"Sure!" the man replied.
"You are a member of Congress."
"Yea! How did you know?"
"Because you are arrogant! You spend way to much money on things that you don't need! You ask the dumbest questions! You find the hardest way to do the simplest things! You tell me things I already know and you know nothing about animals because this is a herd of sheep, not cows! NOW GIVE ME BACK MY DOG!

I 8'th, No One On The Line!
A young man started a business. To impress his customers, he bought a nice office with a nice chair and desk, and a nice computer, and always wore a nice suit to work. One day a man came in, so, to impress him, he picked up the phone, even though there was no one on the other end, and acted like he was having a very important conversation with a rich customer. When he hung up, he asked the man: "Can I help you?"
"Yes," the man replied. "I am here to hook up your phone line!"

7th is Sink or Swim
A fish and game warden goes up to a man fishing and suspects that the man does not have a fishing license. So he says to the fisherman: "Do you have your license?"
"Nope!" the man replied watching his fishing rod.
"Then how come you're fishing?"
"I 'm not fishing!"
"Than what do you call this?"
"Drowning worms!"

In 6th we have Sticker Shock
An unethical car dealer had taken advantage of several people in the community. He called a local rancher about coming over to buy a bull. When he arrived, the rancher handed him the bill:
  • Basic bull: $499.99
  • Extra stomachs: $79.99
  • 2-ton exterior: $124.99
  • Heavy-duty straw chomper: $189.99
  • High-output drain system: $149.99
  • Automatic flyswatter: $88.99
  • Genuine bullhide upholstery: $179.99
  • Deluxe dual horns: 59.99
  • Automatic fertilizer attachment: $339.99
  • 4x4 traction drive assembly: $884.99
  • Pre-delivery wash and detailing: $69.99
  • Destination charge: $395.99
  • Tax, license and title: $63.99
The bill came to $3,128.87
This gave the dealer a new appreciation for the term "sticker shock"

5th place goes to Eat Dirt
A vacuum cleaner salesman goes out to a little town in the country to try to sell a vacuum. (This takes place in the early 1900s) Anywho, the man saw an elderly lady sweeping her porch. So he got out of his car and went up to her. Then he pulled a packet of dirt out of his pocket, ripped it open and dumped it on the floor. Then he said: "If my vacuum can't suck that up, I'll eat it myself!"
The lady told him: "Better start chomping mister, because we don't have electricity out here!"

And 4th is Wrong Number!
A girl went to a party, but was out later than she was supposed to be.
She tried to call home, but unknowingly called the wrong house.
An elderly woman answered the phone and she sounded like she had just woken up.
"I'm sorry mom, but I wont be home until later tonight." Said the girl.
"Mom? I am not your mom! I don't even have a daughter!" the woman yelled
"Wow, mom! I knew you would be mad, but I never thought you would disown me."

3rd belongs to Beware of Dog?
A man walked into a country store out in the middle of nowhere. He read a sign that said "Beware of Dog." on the wall!
As he entered, he saw an old Basset Hound sound asleep in the middle of the floor.
He asked the man behind the counter, "Is that the dog I need to "Beware" of?"
"Sure is!" the man behind the counter replied.
"That dog doesn't look like it could hurt a fly!"

"Than why do you have the sign?"
"Because before I got it, people kept tripping over him!"

2nd is Under the Stars
Two men went camping. As they were lying in their sleeping bags, one said to the other "What do you see up there?" pointing to the sky.
"Lots of stars!" the other replied.
"And what does that tell you."
"It tells me that it will be nice tomorrow!"
"That's funny, it tells me that someone took our tent!"

And in 1st place we have, drum roll please............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. SCARED TO DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A man got a job as a taxi driver. On his first day of work he picked up a passenger and started to take him to his destination.
The passenger needed to ask the driver a question, so he leaned forward and tapped on his shoulder. As soon as he did the driver screamed and lost control of the car. After dodging a fire hydrant, running two red lights and a stop sign, almost hitting a dog and an old lady crossing the street, he came to a stop inches away from a garbage truck.
"Are you OK?" asked the passenger.
"I am just fine. You scared me when you tapped on my shoulder."
"How did that scare you?"
"Well, for the last 12 years I have been driving a hearse.

Hope you enjoyed the joke of the week contest!!!!
