So, what do you get when you mix a cow, a freezer and an earth quake? A Milk shake!
Alright, I know! Lame joke!
So, last night, in the middle of our Merit Badge meeting at Scouts, we were rudely interrupted by a noisy, underground shock wave, otherwise known as an earthquake. At 7:12 pm yesterday, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake epicentred 3 miles west of Hollis Center, Maine and 3 miles below the surface on the ground. It was felt as far as Vermont, Canada and Connecticut. the shock waves really travel in New England's fertile bed rock! It was cool to be in the bottom of a 200 year old, falling apart church in the middle of and earthquake. Change that: it was CREEPY to be in the bottom of a 200 year old, falling apart church in an earthquake.
We were all really shaky after that. It made it a little hard to write. Would i do it again? No! Not in that building!

Haha! We had one recently (did you hear of it, almost a year ago) when it was only a few miles from the house and was felt through most of the USA... I enjoyed it :P
ReplyDeleteyes, I did hear about that. I meant to ask you if you felt it!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! When I felt it I closed my water (so it didn't spill on my book :P ), put my bookmark in my book, and started heading outside... As at the time we were at a friends house in a neighborhood and I could get in the middle of a wide open area. But it ended before I got out. And all the phone lines went down :)
ReplyDeleteThat is what it was like with us. We all ran up stairs, but it was done by the time we got there. The NHDS said that the cell pnone lines were all blocked because everyone was on their cell phone after it happened!
